Rep. Frank Pallone, a U.S. Congressman representing New Jersey’s 6th district since 1988, has voiced concerns about the conditions at Delaney Hall ICE detention center through a series of posts on his official social media account.
On May 25, 2026, Pallone stated, “I visited the men and women suffering in ICE detention at Delaney Hall earlier this year, and I was shocked by the conditions they told me they had to endure. I am disgusted that these conditions only continue to worsen for detainees. People are languishing without knowing if”.
Later that day, he posted another update following a visit with colleagues Rep. Nellie and Senator Andy Kim, “I just visited Delaney Hall with my colleagues @RepNellie and @SenatorAndyKim, and it’s crystal clear to me there’s only one option now. CLOSE DELANEY HALL, NOW. The conditions here are absolutely unacceptable. These detention centers have no place anywhere in our state or our”.
The following morning on May 26, Pallone continued his criticism of federal oversight at the facility, “Trump’s @DHSgov can deny it all they want, but we know what we saw in Delaney Hall yesterday. There’s a hunger strike because conditions are awful. Our neighbors are being treated with cruelty that has no place in the United States of America. Inedible food, poor access to”.
Frank Pallone has been active in public service for decades; prior to his congressional tenure he served in the New Jersey Senate from 1984 to 1988. Born in Long Branch, New Jersey in 1951 and currently residing there at age 71, Pallone is an alumnus of Middlebury College (BA) and Rutgers University-Camden (JD).
