In a tweet dated April 2, 2025, Pallone expressed his disapproval of an executive order by Trump, suggesting it undermines historical discourse. “Forget scholarship, forget evidence—in Trump’s America, historical complexity is a thoughtcrime. Thanks to his latest executive order, the Smithsonian is being repurposed into the Department of Approved Feelings, where any mention of slavery, sexism, or systemic injustice is,” Pallone tweeted, drawing attention to changes at the Smithsonian Institution.
Later that day, Pallone criticized funding cuts to healthcare services. On April 2, 2025, he mentioned, “Trump is slashing federal funds for birth control, STI testing, and cancer screenings at Planned Parenthood — punishing low-income Americans to score points with rightwing extremists. These Title X cuts are cruel and dangerous.” This highlighted his concern about the impact on healthcare services for low-income communities.
The congressman also commented on economic policy. On April 2, 2025, Pallone tweeted about a postponed tariff announcement by Trump, “Happy “Liberation Day” where Donald Trump is delaying his big tariff announcement until after the stock market closes because he’s been told it’ll crash the economy.” This suggests skepticism regarding the timing and potential consequences of the economic measure.
