The Borough of Milltown announced on April 14 that hydrant flushing required by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (N.J.D.E.P.) will start on Saturday, April 18 and continue daily until the process is finished.

Hydrant flushing is an important maintenance procedure that helps ensure water quality and system reliability for residents. The borough said the work will take place each day from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Residents may notice low water pressure or harmless discolored water during this period. In a statement, Don Hermann, Water/Sewer Supervisor, and Frank Manco, Councilman and Utilities Liaison, said: “We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you in advance for your cooperation.”

The borough did not specify how long the flushing process would last but advised residents to be aware of possible temporary changes in their water service while work is ongoing.

Routine hydrant flushing helps maintain public health standards by clearing sediment from pipes and ensuring proper operation of fire hydrants throughout the community.
