A significant snowstorm is expected to impact Milltown beginning late Saturday night and continuing through Sunday, with the possibility of lasting into Monday morning. The Milltown Office of Emergency Management has issued a notice urging residents to prepare for potentially hazardous conditions.

According to the alert, residents must remove all vehicles from public roadways after one hour of continuous snowfall. Vehicles may not be returned until the storm has ended and roads have been fully plowed. This rule applies to Main Street and all side streets in the borough.

The notice emphasizes that vehicles left on the road during major snow events can create safety hazards and hinder snow removal operations. “To ensure the safe and efficient clearing of streets during a large snowstorm, vehicles remaining on roadways will be towed without exception,” said Chief Chris Johnson, OEM Coordinator.

Residents are also reminded that sidewalks must be cleared of snow and ice within 24 hours after the storm ends, as required by Ordinance 23-5.1. The Police Department and Zoning Office will strictly enforce this ordinance. The alert states: “Clear sidewalks are essential for pedestrian safety, particularly for children walking to and from school.”

Additionally, it is prohibited under Ordinance 23-5.3 to throw, push, or place snow or ice into any street or roadway.

For those without off-street parking options, several Borough-owned parking facilities are available during the storm. These include Gloria Bradford Borough Park Lot, Michelin Field Lot, Albert Avenue Park Lot, Senior Center Parking Lot, Library Parking Lot, Borough Hall Lot, Mill Pond Parking lots (Kuhlthau Ave & Mill Pond), North Brook Drive “Brook Park” lot, Ford Avenue/N Brook Lot (on bend by Brook), and South Main Street – Fire House Lot (Former Location of MFD).

The alert also notes that school and church parking lots are private property. Parking in these areas is not permitted without explicit authorization from the Board of Education or church leadership. Unauthorized vehicles may be subject to towing as these lots need to remain accessible for their regular use.

Chief Chris Johnson thanked residents for their cooperation: “Thank you for planning ahead and for your cooperation in helping to keep Milltown safe during severe weather events.” Residents with questions or special circumstances are encouraged to contact the Office of Emergency Management at 732-828-1100 before the storm arrives.
