The Borough of Milltown has been implementing an upgrade to its water meter system, replacing older units with new electronic meters. The process requires residents to schedule an appointment and allow a technician into their homes for installation.

Concerns have arisen among some senior citizens, particularly those living alone or without nearby family members, regarding the presence of unfamiliar technicians in their homes. In response, the Milltown Police Department is offering assistance during these appointments.

Chief Chris Johnson stated, “To support you, the Milltown Police Department is pleased to offer assistance during your scheduled installation. If you are a senior citizen who lives alone or simply feels nervous about the appointment, we encourage you to reach out to us. After scheduling your installation, please call the police department at 732-828-1100 with your service date. One of our officers will gladly come to your home and stay with you while the technician completes the work.”

He added, “Having had this upgrade completed at my own home, I can assure you that the installation is quick and only takes a few minutes.”

The police department emphasizes its commitment to ensuring that all residents feel safe and comfortable throughout the water meter replacement process. Chief Johnson concluded, “We are always here to help. By working together, we can ensure these important upgrades are completed safely, comfortably, and efficiently for everyone in our community.”
