Rep. Frank Pallone, who has represented New Jersey’s 6th district in the U.S. Congress since 1988, posted a series of messages on November 4, 2025, addressing Election Day and ongoing political issues.
In his first post of the day, Pallone encouraged civic participation, writing, “Happy Election Day, New Jersey! It’s a great day to do your civic duty—polls close at 8:00 tonight.” (November 4, 2025).
Later that morning, he highlighted concerns about federal policy impacting local businesses and SNAP recipients: “A local grocery co-op in my district, beloved by Rutgers students and New Brunswick residents, received that same ominous email from Trump’s Department of Agriculture—DEMANDING that the co-op stop offering discounts to SNAP recipients. Trump doesn’t want you to be able to” (November 4, 2025).
By the afternoon, Pallone addressed the ongoing government shutdown: “It’s DAY 35 of the REPUBLICAN RETREAT. Tonight, we’ll reach the LONGEST GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN IN AMERICAN HISTORY because Republicans would rather make millions of people uninsured than keep the government functioning for the American people. It’s the height of cruelty.” (November 4, 2025).
Frank Pallone has served in Congress since replacing James J. Howard in 1988 and previously served in the New Jersey Senate from 1984 to 1988. Born in Long Branch in 1951 and currently residing there at age 71, Pallone is an alumnus of Middlebury College and Rutgers University-Camden.
