Rep. Frank Pallone, who represents New Jersey’s 6th district in the U.S. Congress, used his social media platform on November 2, 2025, to comment on ongoing national issues including the government shutdown and nuclear policy.
In a post made at 15:04 UTC, Pallone addressed the duration of the current government shutdown, writing: “It’s DAY 33 of the REPUBLICAN RETREAT. We’re nearing the longest government shutdown in American history and there’s no end in sight because Republicans refuse to negotiate to lower the price of your health care.”
Later that day at 16:16 UTC, Pallone reiterated his position regarding presidential authority over nuclear weapons: “I’ve always been clear that any president must consult Congress before toying around with nukes, and I can’t be any clearer about it today. Hands OFF the button.” In another statement posted at the same time, he criticized former President Donald Trump’s approach to nuclear testing: “ICYMI: It’s already terrifying enough that a person like Trump has his hands as close to NUCLEAR LAUNCH CODES as it is. Now, he’s trying to start up tests again—something America hasn’t done for DECADES because of how dangerous they are. It sends the wrong signal to the world”.
Pallone has served in Congress since 1988 after succeeding James J. Howard and previously held office in the New Jersey Senate from 1984 to 1988. He was born in Long Branch, New Jersey in 1951 and continues to reside there. Pallone earned his undergraduate degree from Middlebury College and later received a law degree from Rutgers University-Camden.
