Rep. Frank Pallone, U.S. Congressman representing New Jersey’s 6th district since 1988, addressed issues related to federal spending priorities and government action on free speech in a series of tweets posted on April 30, 2026.
In his first tweet, Pallone criticized the allocation of $25 billion by Republicans and former President Trump, arguing that these funds could have been used to make life more affordable for Americans. He stated: “This is $25 billion that Trump and Republicans could be spending to make your life more affordable. Extending the ACA Enhanced Premium Tax Credits for a year to keep millions of Americans on their health insurance would have cost $30 billion.” The tweet was published at 18:30 UTC.
Later that day, Pallone accused Brendan Carr of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) of misusing his authority. According to Pallone’s post at 19:01 UTC: “Brendan Carr has been weaponizing @FCC to punish protected speech at the behest of @POTUS, and now the First Lady. Carr’s unprecedented retaliation against Disney over a @JimmyKimmelLive joke is an assault on free speech & government censorship. Period.”
Following up immediately after, Pallone announced further actions in response to what he described as an abuse of power: “Today I’m leading a renewed effort to get answers and put an end to this egregious abuse of power.”
Frank Pallone has held office in Congress since replacing James J. Howard in 1988, following earlier service in the New Jersey Senate from 1984 to 1988. Born in Long Branch, New Jersey in 1951, he continues to reside there at age 71. His academic background includes a Bachelor’s degree from Middlebury College (1973) and a law degree from Rutgers University-Camden (1978).
