Rep. Frank Pallone, a U.S. Congressman representing New Jersey’s 6th district since 1988, used his social media platform on November 6, 2025, to criticize Republican policies regarding health insurance, food assistance programs, and the ongoing government shutdown.
In a post made at 16:52 UTC, Pallone wrote: “Unaffordable health insurance, groceries, and rent—that’s the Republican agenda. I can’t think of anything more cruel.”
Later that day at 17:48 UTC, he continued his criticism by stating: “Republicans will let you go hungry or bleed out on the pavement with their halting of SNAP and price hikes to your health insurance—and with their shutdown, they’ll let you freeze, too. They’re playing politics with Americans’ lives.”
At 18:35 UTC on the same day, Pallone referenced a recent telephone town hall discussion about the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), writing: “A constituent at last night’s SNAP telephone town hall asked me if the Republicans were stealing food by withholding SNAP benefits, because they can’t steal Americans’ health care. My point of view? That’s EXACTLY what’s happening.”
Frank Pallone has represented New Jersey’s 6th District in Congress since succeeding James J. Howard in 1988 and previously served in the New Jersey Senate from 1984 to 1988. Born in Long Branch in 1951 and currently residing there, Pallone holds degrees from Middlebury College and Rutgers University-Camden.
