Rep. Frank Pallone, a U.S. Congressman representing New Jersey’s 6th district since 1988, used his social media platform to criticize actions by former President Donald Trump and Congressional Republicans in a series of posts made on November 2 and 3, 2025.
On November 2, Pallone posted: “Trump is trying to go to war without Congress. Blowing boats out of the water and proposing sending American soldiers into harm’s way in the Caribbean without Congress signing off are irresponsible and ILLEGAL.
Republicans in Congress need to grow a spine and finally push back https://t.co/PVxvvuwtS1“
The following day, he addressed the ongoing government shutdown: “It’s DAY 34 of the REPUBLICAN RETREAT. Republicans shut down the government to force cruel cuts to your health care—illegally cutting millions off food assistance in their process. The result is clear—BLEED THE AMERICAN PEOPLE DRY. https://t.co/9iHWvIjiPD” (November 3).
Later that morning, Pallone disputed claims about SNAP benefits during shutdowns: “MYTH: SNAP benefits can’t be paid during a shutdown.
FACT: The U.S. Department of Agriculture has a contingency fund designed for situations like these. The Trump Administration tried to ILLEGALLY withhold these funds to make Americans GO HUNGRY, and it took a COURT ORDER for https://t.co/GTkMtw1imL” (November 3).
Pallone’s remarks come amid heightened tensions over government funding negotiations and debate regarding executive authority in military matters.
Frank Pallone has represented New Jersey’s 6th District since succeeding James J. Howard in 1988; before that, he served in the New Jersey Senate from 1984 to 1988. Born in Long Branch, New Jersey in 1951, Pallone graduated from Middlebury College with a BA in 1973 and earned his JD from Rutgers University-Camden in 1978.
