Rep. Frank Pallone, a member of the U.S. Congress representing New Jersey’s 6th district since 1988, posted a series of statements on social media criticizing former President Donald Trump and commemorating Yom HaShoah.
On April 13, 2026, Pallone addressed recent comments made by Trump regarding Pope Leo, stating, “Trump not only thinks he’s a king, but now, it’s clear he thinks he’s God. Is Trump criticizing Pope Leo because he thinks he’s more Godlike? You don’t denigrate a religious leader in this way—even if you disagree with his policy of peace and justice. Trump is a total maniac.”
Later that day, Pallone commented on the president’s approach to national security and fiscal responsibility: “The President is throwing things at the wall to see what sticks. That’s not how you secure peace and security. Now everyday Americans are going to be the ones footing the bill for Trump’s foolishness.”
On April 14, 2026, Pallone marked Yom HaShoah with a message about remembrance and confronting antisemitism: “On Yom HaShoah, we remember the six million Jews murdered in a genocide. They were targeted simply for being Jewish, victims of Nazi antisemitism which sought to erase an entire people. ‘Never again’ means confronting hatred of Jews wherever it persists every day.”
Pallone has represented New Jersey’s 6th district since succeeding James J. Howard in Congress in 1988 and previously served in the New Jersey Senate from 1984 to 1988. He was born in Long Branch, New Jersey in 1951 and continues to reside there at age 71. His academic background includes a BA from Middlebury College (1973) and a JD from Rutgers University-Camden (1978).
