Rep. Frank Pallone, a U.S. Congressman representing New Jersey’s 6th district since 1988, used his social media platform to criticize former President Donald Trump’s policies on gas prices and federal spending in a series of tweets posted on May 5 and May 6, 2026.
On May 5, Pallone highlighted the recent spike in gas prices in New Jersey, referencing data from AAA: “According to AAA, gas prices in New Jersey are sitting at almost $4.50 per gallon. If Trump’s war continues, we’ll hit $5.00 per gallon. That’s a 30¢ increase from last week! At what point will Trump and his loyalists admit that this war has been a disaster—and bring this”.
The following day, he criticized Trump’s approach to government spending and health care: “Trump views any spending that doesn’t fuel his ego as ‘wasteful’—but gigantic vanity construction projects in Washington and wars of choice abroad are must-have priorities. It’s why he threw millions of people off their health care but is asking Congress for a billion dollars for”.
Pallone also shared an additional link via Twitter on May 6 without further comment: “https://t.co/NfyrFHvcGh”.
Frank Pallone has represented New Jersey’s 6th District in Congress since succeeding James J. Howard in 1988 and previously served in the New Jersey Senate from 1984 to 1988.
