Rep. Frank Pallone, who has represented New Jersey’s 6th district in the U.S. Congress since 1988, posted a series of statements on April 9, 2026, addressing former President Donald Trump’s policies and their impact on national and state issues.
In a post made at 14:19 UTC, Pallone rejected the possibility of the United States withdrawing from NATO without congressional approval. He stated: “Hell no. Trump can’t withdraw from NATO without Congress—and I will NEVER support abandoning and betraying our allies. I sincerely hope @HouseGOP doesn’t, either.”
Later that day at 16:42 UTC, Pallone criticized Trump’s trade policies and their effect on American industry. He wrote: “Trump’s tariffs haven’t helped American manufacturing. American manufacturers have lost 100,000 jobs—and Trump is rubbing it in their faces with his crooked ballroom scheme. Taking donations of foreign steel for your gold-plated vanity project is anything but ‘America First.’”
At 21:02 UTC on the same day, Pallone addressed reproductive rights in the context of ongoing political debates over abortion laws. He said: “Let’s be clear. Trump is going after our state laws protecting women’s reproductive rights because it’s his backdoor means of achieving a national abortion ban.
At my roundtable this week with @PPActionNJ, @NOWNewJersey, @nwlc, and NJFPL, I made it clear: New Jersey isn’t”
Pallone was born in Long Branch, New Jersey in 1951 and continues to reside there at age 71. Before serving in Congress, he was a member of the New Jersey Senate from 1984 to 1988. His educational background includes a Bachelor’s degree from Middlebury College (1973) and a law degree from Rutgers University-Camden (1978).
