Frank Pallone, a U.S. Congressman representing New Jersey’s 6th district since 1988, shared his thoughts on several pressing issues through social media posts dated March 20 and 21, 2025. Pallone, who succeeded James J. Howard in Congress and has an extensive political background including service in the New Jersey Senate, addressed concerns about educational policy changes and economic challenges faced by Americans.

In a tweet posted on March 20, 2025, Pallone criticized former President Donald Trump’s plan to eliminate the Department of Education. He expressed concern that this plan could lead to significant negative impacts such as “mass teacher layoffs,” “overcrowded classrooms,” and decreased support for students. He also highlighted potential financial consequences for individuals and communities: “It’ll price millions out of college and increase local property taxes.” Furthermore, he accused Trump’s Education Secretary of being indifferent towards public education. “Trump’s plan to eliminate the Department of Education means mass teacher layoffs, overcrowded classrooms…”

Later on March 20, Pallone commented on a typographical error regarding the Department of Education in another post: “You spelled Department of Education wrong”.

On March 21, Pallone addressed economic issues related to consumer debt and inflation. He pointed out the reliance on “buy now, pay later” services for basic needs like food delivery from DoorDash as indicative of deeper economic problems rather than progress. He criticized stagnant wages under what he termed “Trumpflation” for exacerbating household budget constraints and likened these payment schemes to payday lending practices. Despite the success predicted for Klarna’s IPO, he argued that increasing consumer debt remains the underlying issue: “If people need buy now, pay later to afford dinner from DoorDash…”
