Rep. Frank Pallone, U.S. Congressman representing New Jersey’s 6th district since 1988 and a Long Branch native, marked Martin Luther King, Jr. Day by honoring Dr. King’s legacy and participating in local commemorations.
On January 19, 2026, Pallone posted on social media: “On Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, we honor Dr. King’s legacy as a trailblazer for liberty in America.
We must carry on the work to achieve his dreams of equality and justice in the face of growing attacks on civil rights and free expression.”
Later that day, he shared his participation in a local event: “Proud to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. here in Long Branch with the color guard.” This reflects Pallone’s continued involvement in community activities within his hometown.
In another post from January 19, he highlighted moments from a celebration in Red Bank: “Heard moving words about fulfilling America’s promise of justice and equality from Langston Hughes, recited by young poet Hadassah Broughton here at the Red Bank MLK, Jr. community celebration.”
Frank Pallone has represented New Jersey’s 6th District in Congress since replacing James J. Howard in 1988 and previously served in the New Jersey Senate from 1984 to 1988. He was born in Long Branch in 1951 and continues to reside there today. Pallone holds degrees from Middlebury College (BA) and Rutgers University-Camden (JD).
