Rep. Frank Pallone, who represents New Jersey’s 6th district in the U.S. Congress, used his social media platform on November 13, 2025, to voice concerns about the potential closure of Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch by RWJ Barnabas Health.
In a post made at 20:04 UTC, Pallone stated: “TUNE IN NOW: I’m rallying our community to Save Our Hospital and stop RWJ Barnabas from closing Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch after 135 years. I’m joined by local leaders, hospital CEOs, faith leaders, and first responders who know exactly what’s at stake!”
Shortly after, at 20:06 UTC, he shared a link without additional commentary: “https://t.co/9PIIBqt7i3”.
Later that evening at 21:23 UTC, Pallone criticized the process surrounding the proposed closure. He wrote: “Let’s review the so-called public hearing process on RWJ Barnabas trying to close the hospital in Long Branch:
– violated public notification laws and scheduled the public hearing on closing Monmouth Medical Center during the workday
– canceled it but 250 people showed up”
Monmouth Medical Center has served the Long Branch community for over a century. The possible closure has prompted concern among residents and local officials about access to healthcare services.
Frank Pallone has represented New Jersey’s 6th District since 1988 after succeeding James J. Howard. Before his tenure in Congress, he served in the New Jersey Senate from 1984 to 1988. Born in Long Branch in 1951 and currently residing there, Pallone is an alumnus of Middlebury College and Rutgers University-Camden.
