Saint Peter’s Healthcare System has announced the opening of registration for its year-long Prevent T2 National Diabetes Prevention Program, which will begin virtually on Tuesday, March 31. The program is free and targets adults aged 18 or older who have been diagnosed with prediabetes or have a history of gestational diabetes.
The Prevent T2 program aims to help participants prevent or delay the onset of Type 2 diabetes by focusing on improved nutrition, increased physical activity, stress management, and weight loss. Classes are taught by registered dietitian nutritionists and are held online every other week for the first six months and then monthly for the final six months. Sessions take place on Tuesdays from 11 am to 12 pm.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has granted Saint Peter’s Prevent T2 National Diabetes Prevention Program Full Plus Recognition for 2025-2026. This designation is given to programs that meet high standards and are based on evidence.
According to Saint Peter’s Healthcare System, “Sessions are designed to be both fun and educational. The curriculum focuses on improving nutrition, increasing physical activity, managing stress, and achieving weight loss. The group format provides support and encouragement.”
Registration is required for participation in this virtual program.
