Saint Peter’s Healthcare System has announced the appointment of new leaders to its Medical Executive Committee for the 2025-2027 term. The committee, which is responsible for developing clinical policies and guiding medical staff operations, will be led by Naveen Mehrotra, MD, MPH, as president. James E. Gervasoni Jr., PhD, MD, MBA, FACS, will serve as vice president and William J. Lowe III, MD, FACOG, will take on the role of treasurer.
“These newly elected leaders reflect a stellar combination of clinical expertise, strong leadership, and keen business acumen; traits that reinforce Saint Peter’s legacy of quality care while nurturing operational improvements that will guide Saint Peter’s into the future,” said Saint Peter’s Healthcare System President and CEO Leslie D. Hirsch, FACHE.
Dr. Mehrotra is a board-certified pediatrician and currently serves as president of the Medical Staff at Saint Peter’s University Hospital. He also sits on the Board of Governors for Saint Peter’s Healthcare System and holds an adjunct faculty position in Rutgers University’s Department of Pediatrics. With over 25 years in practice through My Whole Child Pediatrics—a group with 20 providers across 20 locations—Dr. Mehrotra has been active in both patient care and advocacy.
He participates in professional organizations such as the Academy of Pediatrics of New Jersey and the Medical Society of New Jersey to support private practitioners with administrative responsibilities. Dr. Mehrotra founded the Shri Krishna Nidhi (SKN) Foundation to address healthcare needs within central New Jersey’s South Asian community and promote wellness through education.
The SKN Foundation focuses on health disparities affecting South Asians—including issues around access to care and chronic disease rates like diabetes and heart disease—by providing educational outreach on prevention strategies.
Dr. Mehrotra played a key role in establishing the SKN South Asian Diabetes Center at Saint Peter’s to support those affected by diabetes within this demographic group.
Vice president Dr. Gervasoni began his tenure at Saint Peter’s as chair of surgery where he launched its robotic surgery program in December 2011 by performing its first general robotics case. He continues his work as Surgical Residency Site director through an affiliation with Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
Treasurer Dr. Lowe serves as vice chair for obstetrics and gynecology at Saint Peter’s University Hospital while directing both outpatient quality initiatives and credentialing efforts for staff physicians. His career started at Saint Peter’s as an OB/GYN resident before returning after a decade to join full-time staff; he is recognized for his dedication to mentoring healthcare professionals across disciplines.
