Middlesex College issued the following announcement.
Upon leaving Air Force active duty service, I joined the reserves and applied to Middlesex College. I walked into the Dental Hygiene department and met Chairperson Elaine Buscemi, who provided me with the information needed to apply to the program. I started in Fall 1996, and the faculty and staff in the department were 100% dedicated to our success and supplied the tools I needed to graduate and begin working. The dental hygiene program is vigorous and required a great deal of discipline. After graduating from the program, I realized that with dedication and perseverance, I could achieve anything.
Any time I needed help, I would go to Professors Kathy Reilly and Dorothy Defoe for guidance. Hope Holbeck was a wonderful mentor from the very beginning and gave excellent advice throughout my career and educational journey. She was one of my professors, then the chairperson of the program when I began teaching here, and finally she returned to a faculty position while I was the chairperson of the program.
Since my time as a student, the College has built a new dental hygiene clinic with updated equipment and curriculum to reflect the current standard of practice. The clinic also has a demonstration room where students can see faculty conduct procedures using media equipment. In phase two of construction, students will have a collaboration area, dental hygiene laboratory, and designated classroom."
