Middlesex College issued the following announcement.
Sayreville twin sisters Rafaela Martelo and Ana Martelo, both mathematics majors, have transferred to Rutgers University, where they are continuing their mathematics studies. They expressed their gratitude for the professors at Middlesex College, calling special attention to faculty in mathematics and physics.
Studying at Middlesex motivated us to keep studying in the mathematics field. Also, we are part of the math club, and having mathematicians come and talk about their work and research in different areas in mathematics really helped us to see what opportunities we have after Middlesex, said Rafaela, who is currently deciding between biomathematics and mathematics and statistics as her research focus at Rutgers.
She shared that going to college with her twin sister comes with certain academic benefits.
It’s really useful to study for tests or get help if I can’t solve a problem, or having issues with homework, she said.
