After participating in the Success Bound Program at the Perth Amboy Center, Carolyn Diaz was offered an internship in Assemblywoman Yvonne Lopez's office.

Once her internship ended, Carolyn decided to pursue a science degree and apply to Marist College.

The Assemblywoman's husband, Sam Delgado, jokingly encouraged her to apply to Marist since "it would get [her] out of Jersey and [she] would get to see someplace different." She ended up being one of the 11 recipients who was awarded a fully-paid four-year National Science Foundation scholarship.
