Laura and Vic Frederico's connection to Rutgers University spans three generations, illustrating a deep family bond with the institution. The couple first met at Cook College in 1997 and married at Voorhees Chapel in April 2004. Their relationship is part of a larger family tradition, as Laura's sister, Sue Colodner (now Miller), also found her spouse, Drew Miller, on campus.

The Fredericos recently returned to their wedding venue to watch their daughter Annie perform with the Voorhees Choir. Reflecting on this moment, Vic said, “When I walked out of that chapel the first time, I never could have imagined we would be back there watching our daughter sing.”

Both families encouraged their children to attend Rutgers for its quality education and proximity to home. This closeness allows frequent visits; for instance, Annie’s dorm is near Laura’s office. Similarly, Sue works close enough to visit her son Ethan regularly.

Rutgers holds sentimental value for Laura and Sue due to their late mother Karen Ahern's ties to the university. They recall Sunday dinners during college years spent with her in New Brunswick.

The couples' stories began on campus: Laura met Vic while working as a student security officer; Sue met Drew after switching Spanish classes. Both couples stayed connected through university activities and friendships.

Now attending Rutgers are Annie Frederico and Ethan Miller. Their experiences echo those of their parents—meeting friends and participating in campus life.

With strong family ties to Rutgers—Kevin Colodner also earned his medical degree from what is now part of the university—the younger generation may continue this legacy by meeting future partners there.

Vic expressed hope for this continuity: “One advantage of going to a university close to home is that they could meet somebody from New Jersey and decide to stay here.”
