Rep. Frank Pallone, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing New Jersey’s 6th district, has recently expressed his concerns over several policies attributed to former President Donald Trump through a series of tweets. Pallone, who has been in office since 1988 after succeeding James J. Howard, voiced his opinions on matters ranging from social welfare cuts to international relations.
On March 23, 2025, Rep. Pallone criticized President Trump for allegedly planning to reduce food assistance programs and hindering food bank operations. In his tweet, he questioned Trump's motives: "Why does President Trump want to deny food to hungry Americans? Can he be so heartless? The answer is yes! The GOP budget will lead to SNAP cuts. The effort to starve food banks has already begun." He further accused Trump of halting the shipment of $500 billion in produce and poultry meant for distribution.
Later that day, Pallone commented on international affairs involving China and Taiwan. On March 23, 2025, he posted: "Trump denies Musk is getting a Pentagon briefing on war with China, but he can't ignore how likely the war has become because of his policies." He argued that Trump's foreign policy decisions have weakened alliances and emboldened adversaries like China and Russia.
Continuing his critique on March 24, 2025, Pallone addressed domestic issues concerning Social Security. In another tweet, he stated: "Trump's attack on Social Security continue. First, Musk says 'it's a Ponzi scheme', then word leaks of plans to shut down phone service." He also mentioned controversial remarks by the Secretary of Commerce regarding beneficiaries as "fraudsters."
