Unstable housing has been a prevalent issue for more than a quarter of community college students

Unstable housing has been a prevalent issue for more than a quarter of community college students. 27% who have rent or mortgage reported difficulty meeting their monthly payments.
Second-year student, Brendan Brito, narrowly avoided eviction from his home after receiving help from Middlesex College Foundation’s Student Emergency Fund.
“As a disabled, Hispanic LGBTQIA military veteran, I greatly appreciated the assistance from the Student Emergency Fund. Though I had received a scholarship last year, the traditional funding wasn’t enough for the challenge I was up against. The added support from the Student Emergency Fund allowed me to continue my studies without interruption and now I look forward to graduating next semester. I feel confident attending classes in a place that’s supportive of students who have needs. Middlesex College is here for its military veterans.”
