He stated that "Trump's threats to eliminate birthright citizenship are unconstitutional. He does not get to pick and choose who is American and who is not." He further emphasized the simplicity of the principle by saying, "If you are born on American soil, you are a U.S. citizen."

He remarked that "Environmental justice ensures clean air & safe water for communities hit hardest by pollution."
