Rep. Frank Pallone, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing New Jersey's 6th district, expressed his views on several political matters through a series of tweets on February 17, 2025. Pallone has been an active member of Congress since 1988 and previously served in the New Jersey Senate. He was born in Long Branch, New Jersey, where he currently resides.
On February 17, 2025, Rep. Frank Pallone criticized President Trump for his approach to foreign policy regarding Belarus. "Sad that we have a weak president in Trump who seeks to appease even small dictators like Belarus President Lukashenko with the possibility of lifting sanctions," Pallone tweeted. He drew a historical parallel by stating that the "appeasement of Hitler led directly to World War II," contrasting Trump's actions with those of "great presidents like FDR" who did not tolerate dictators.
Later that day, Pallone highlighted an event at the Long Branch Senior Center scheduled for Presidents' Week. In his tweet from February 17, he invited constituents to attend a presentation by historian Jim Foley about presidents who spent their summers in Long Branch: "In honor of Presidents' Week, stop in at the Long Branch Senior Center...for a presentation by historian Jim Foley about the 7 presidents who made Long Branch their summer home."
Additionally, Rep. Pallone commented on international politics concerning Germany's leadership and U.S. Vice President Vance's actions during his visit to Dachau. On February 17, he stated: "German Chancellor Scholz correctly rebuked Vice President Vance for supporting the pro-Nazi Alternative for Germany(AfD)." He accused Vance of ignoring "the political reality that led to the Holocaust by encouraging right-wing extremists who honor Hitler’s memory."
