Frank Pallone, a long-serving representative in the U.S. Congress for New Jersey's 6th District, has criticized recent proposals from Trump and the Republican Party. Pallone, who has been in Congress since 1988, expressed concern over policy actions affecting Medicaid, education, and scientific research in a series of tweets.
On April 16, 2025, Pallone highlighted concerns about potential cuts to Medicaid and education services, noting, "First he mocked a reporter with a disability. Now Trump and Republicans want to slash Medicaid, decimate special ed, and roll back decades of disability rights. In NJ alone, 240,000 students rely on services these cuts would gut. This is as fiscally irresponsible as it is".
Later that day, Pallone addressed another aspect of the proposed Medicaid changes, tweeting, "Republicans are pushing a backdoor cut to Medicaid that would slash hospital funding in every state. They’re calling it 'reform' but it’s really a multi-billion dollar raid on care for seniors, people with disabilities, and working families. Why? To pay for Trump’s billionaire".
The following day, on April 17, 2025, he voiced his worries regarding the impact of funding freezes on scientific research, particularly the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Howard Lab in Sandy Hook. Pallone tweeted, "The NOAA Howard Lab on Sandy Hook is at risk of shutting down—thanks to Trump’s reckless freeze on federal funding. This lab isn’t just a facility—it’s the heart of NJ’s marine research, protecting our beaches, seafood, and fishing jobs. I’m fighting to stop these cuts and make".
Frank Pallone, 71, has been involved in politics for over four decades, first serving in the New Jersey Senate in the 1980s. He continues to reside in Long Branch, New Jersey, where he was born and later graduated with a BA from Middlebury College and a JD from Rutgers University-Camden.
